Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic, one of the Strategic Partnerships institutes supervised by Colleges of Excellence, signed a cooperation agreement with Maersk last week in Dubai, to train 3000 of national competencies to work in renewables sector and qualify them to enter the Saudi labor market.
Eng. Ayman bin Mustafa Alabdullah, CEO of the Colleges of Excellence, said that this agreement comes under the Strategic Partnerships agreements with international educational institutions to advance cooperation between the Kingdom and these institutions to develop human resources, increase the number of trainees in the Strategic Partnerships institutes, and create job and investment opportunities in accordance with the needs of the Kingdom's labor market.
He added that this agreement, signed in the Danish Pavilion on the sidelines of Expo 2020 in Dubai, aims to enhance the Saudi national workforce, develop wind power industry, promote safety and performance in renewables sources, and support sustainability goals.
He pointed that this agreement will contribute in training and qualifying Saudi national cadres, and equipping them with the skills, and cognitive and vocational abilities needed in renewables labor market in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030, towards a diverse economy supported with renewables, through training them to achieve sustainable development in this sector and increase its contribution in the GDP and in developing renewable wind power goals in the Kingdom.
He commended the efforts of partners in the project of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) and Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic (SESP). He noted that the wind power industry in the Kingdom is one of the joint projects between governmental and private institutions. At the same time, he stressed that the Kingdom aspires to reach 6.1 GW by 2028, and that this industry is one of the emerging industries that provides great job opportunities for national cadres, as this agreement targets training 3000 trainees over the next 6 years.
For his part, Dr Khalid Al Somaili, Managing Director of Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic, stressed the importance of the joint cooperation between both sides to achieve common interests.
He said: "We are pleased to sign this agreement between the Institute and Maersk to establish a framework for cooperation in wind power sector, where this step aligns in substance and objectives with Saudi Vision 2030, and highlights the prominent role of the Institute as a provider of world-class technical training programs in the energy sector."
He added: "Training modules will be created for renewable wind power, supported by Maersk, along with solar panels for a comprehensive training program that extends for 9 months and works on operating and maintaining wind farms that reach 6.1 GW."
Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic and Maersk signed a cooperation agreement, in the presence of a group of officials from organizing agencies. The agreement was signed by Dr Khalid Al Somaili, Managing Director of Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic, and Vijay Rangachari, Regional Managing Director at Maersk.
Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic was established in September 2012 as a leading center of vocational training and education in the Kingdom, in order to provide innovative and internationally accredited training programs that focus on developing technical skills and experiences of Saudi youth in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030.
Maersk is one of the most important independent international training and consulting organizations, with over 40 years of experience in more than 19 countries around the world.
The Colleges of Excellence, a governmental company, is affiliated with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the leading agency of applied training in the Kingdom.
