Colleges of Excellence and the Ministry of Industry sign the Consulting and Training Services Project for the Employment Initiative

In the presence of His Excellency Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Fahad Al-Fuhaid, the Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), the Ministry and Colleges of Excellence, one of TVTC's arms, signed a contract for the Consulting and Training Services Project for the initiative to employ a Saudi official in quarries and crushers operated by the private sector.

H.E. Dr. Al-Fuhaid, in a press release after the signing ceremony, said that the mining sector in the Kingdom is one of the most important investment pillars targeted in Vision 2030, adding that this sector has witnessed significant growth in recent years with the support and patronage of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his devoted Crown Prince.

He stressed on the importance of this project and its impacts on localizing jobs in one of the most important construction sectors in the Kingdom, which is quarries and crushers.

He added that the project's aim is that Colleges of Excellence provides consulting services to the Ministry to support the initiative to train and employ Saudi citizens to work as officials in quarries and crushers across the Kingdom; and to increase supervision of works done by these sectors, through developing the study of the gap between the current situation and what is expected, and studying the best international practices and enablers of success.   

He noted that this project will help in developing a specialized curriculum and evaluation mechanisms to build competencies in this field, supervise the training of 1400 trainees in quarries and crushers, and follow up the program's outputs and targets achievement.

Dr. Al-Fuhaid explained that the project will involve studying the current situation of the work environment and employment success enablers; coordinating with governmental and private sectors to enhance their participation in supporting the program; building qualifications, job descriptions and manuals necessary for implementing training and evaluation; and providing electronic systems needed to supervise training and following up employment in private agencies.

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the Colleges of Excellence signed yesterday the project's contract at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh. It was signed by Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Mudaifer, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Dr. Ahmed bin Fahad Al-Fuhaid, the Governor and Chairman of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, in the presence of Eng. Ayman bin Mustafa Alabdullah, CEO of Colleges of Excellence, and a number of officials from both sides.

Colleges of Excellence, established in 2013, is a governmental leading company in providing applied training for technical and vocational skills in the Kingdom, in partnership with the best international training organizations to meet the needs of the local markets, and provide the best international practices and applied training in technical and vocational field.
